Outline of Play

The play opens on 3rd September 1939 and closes on VE Day, 8th May 1945.  During the intervening period we follow the course of the war as experienced by a working class family in Manchester.

The story reveals the warmth and affection of their personal relationships, pre-occupations, troubles and joys, and is interspersed with tunes and songs from the period.
