Outline of Play
This is a Lancashire play set in the Mill Town of Hindle and written largely in Lancashire dialect. A Wakes Weekend means time spent in Blackpool or, in the case of Fanny Hawthorn, Llandudno, with the mill owner's son.
The characters' various reactions to this, and their final decision, make up a drama which caused great furore when it was first produced in 1912.
