Outline of Play
This play was first performed at the Contact Theatre in Manchester on 25 February 1987 and in a revised version at the Royal Court Theatre in London on 23 February 1989.
The author said "I wrote this play when I was twenty-five, because I didn't know any plays about Mothers and Daughters. It seems to me that a woman's relationship with her mother - that strange bond of love and jealousy - has a lifelong and unavoidable influence ..."
